About the event

When: Thurs 4th August, 6pm Where: My Lover Cindi, ‘quiet area’ Free for all, please register via link : here Mia Fan is a Hong Kong-Australian artist currently living and working in Adelaide, South Australia. She majored in Fine Art at the University of East London, before completing her postgraduate studies in Art History at the University of South Africa. She also studied Chinese painting at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Art in Singapore. Description: This work explores mental health during the Covid-19 lockdowns. More specifically, the title is derived from the Chinese name for Alopecia areata or non-scarring hair loss, which is believed to be caused by sudden or prolonged stress; however, the actual cause is actually unknown, despite the number of cases for this illness increasing dramatically over the last two years. So-called ghost-induced illness refers to disorders such as this, which have no explanation, as if they have been caused by a ghost. This work relates the experiences of the artist to myth and medicine, as applied specifically to ghosts in folklore. We feel very privileged to have these works on display throughout August. Be the first to see them at the launch!
